-Earned NU’s Outstanding Defensive Player Award as voted by teammates (2003)
Corey Simms looks to continue his outstanding progress on the court when he returns for his junior campaign in 2003-04. Simms, who has played in all but one game over the past two seasons, will try to solidify his spot in the starting lineup, where he found a permanent home in the third game last season.
After showing glimpses of a solid offensive game last year, Simms hopes to continue improving around the basket this season. But the place he can make the biggest difference for the Huskers is on defense, where he provided solid coverage while routinely being matched up with some of the opponent's top players last year.
Playing on the wing, Simms has good speed to go with his size. His shooting touch has improved over the past two seasons as has his passing ability, allowing him to become a vital part of the Nebraska offense.
