Proceeds from the tournament will benefit charitable foundations in the greater Lawrence and Kansas City areas, with a focus on youth initiatives and cancer research.

"So many wonderful people in the community have told me their stories about the National Championship Game, said Ronnie and Almarie Chalmers, Mario's parents.  We wanted to provide a fun atmosphere for fans to reminisce about the game, meet the players and socialize.  We also want to give back to the community that has given so much to us over the years."
