Christian Matthews, 6-3, 195, quarterback from Arlington-Bowie, Texas, passed for more than 2,200 yards and 19 touchdowns with approximately 700 rushing yards. He was named All-District and District MVP. Why Kansas?

Recruiting coach/relationship: "Coach [David] Beaty was my recruiter. We have a pretty good relationship. He's a lively guy and is always happy to see me. He kept me informed often."

Expected to redshirt?: "I've never been a person that's watched someone else play, but I know I need to learn to wait my turn. If I redshirt, I'll get stronger. If you look at it, some of the best quarterbacks were redshirted in college."

Why Kansas?: "Kansas runs the same offense that we ran in high school. I like how the program has come up and is one of the top programs in the nation. Hopefully, I can get there and further help the team."
