KU Hanging In With Hamilton
Jordan Hamilton

Jordan Hamilton doesn't feel a need to rush, nor should he. The elite 6-7 wing from Los Angeles is one of the 20 best senior prospects in the United States, and this summer he has proved time and again that his status is deserved.
At both the LeBron James Skills Academy and the Peach Jam this month,
Jordan Hamilton
has been a prolific scorer for Team Odom. Known primarily for a jump shot that is, as they say, "wet to 22 feet," Hamilton lacks not for confidence. Even if he misses two or three in a row, he steps right back into the mix and usually finds himself riding a hot streak.
On the other hand, there is absolutely nothing volatile about Hamilton's recruitment. His list has remained steady for months, and don't look for that to change anytime soon.
"I've still got all my schools," Hamilton said from the Peach Jam. "It's Texas,
Syracuse
, UConn,
USC
, Cal and
Kansas
. I don't have a leader or anything like that."
While Hamilton has been adamant that no school has taken the lead, he does acknowledge that a trio of schools have pursued him most avidly.
"The three after me the hardest are UT, UConn and Kansas," Hamilton said. "They're all just telling about the family vibe at their school and that they will play me at guard or small forward."
As for KU and its chances, the Jayhawks as usual lean heavily on the recruiting ability of
Bill Self
, but Hamilton said that assistant Kurtis Townsend has worked diligently to get to know him as well.
Although KU has targeted Hamilton for a long time, the recruiting pitch has become all the more meaningful since the Jayhawks captured the national title.
"What can you say about Kansas, they just won the championship," Hamilton said. "It's a great program and you always notice something like a national championship, and this summer they put a lot of guys in the NBA."
Hamilton finished by saying that he still doesn't have a firm timetable and that he'll play out the summer and then focus on his recruitment more closely.
