STILLWATER, Okla. - Despite 16 points and 10 rebounds from senior Darnell Jackson and a late surge, Oklahoma State upset No. 4 Kansas 61-60 in men's basketball here Saturday.
Kansas
(24-3, 9-3) dropped it second straight road game in Big 12 play for the first time since the 2005 season.
Oklahoma State
improved to 14-12 on the season and 5-7 in Big 12 play.
Kansas could not stop Oklahoma State senior
Byron Eaton
, who scored 26 points for the game, including a free throw with nine seconds remaining to give OSU a 61-60 lead. Eaton was had 16 of OSU's 36 first half points, including 10-for-10 from the free throw line in the opening stanza as OSU led 36-32. It marked only the third time this season Kansas did not lead at intermission.
OSU added to its lead in the second half and was up 48-39 with 10:11 left before Kansas mounted a comeback, led by junior
Brandon Rush
, who scored all of his 12 points in the second half. The Jayhawks took a 56-54 lead on a
Sasha Kaun
jumper in the paint with 4:23 remaining and took its largest lead of the game at 58-54 on a Rush jumper a minute later.
OSU then scored the next six points to retake the lead before Jackson made a layup to knot the game at 60 with 41 seconds remaining. Eaton then took control and drove to the basket, where he was fouled by Kaun and then made the free throw.
Kansas continues its road swing at
Iowa State
on Wednesday, Feb. 27. The game will tip at 6 p.m. (Central) and will be televised on ESPN.
