Rod Harris, 6-2, 196-pound wide receiver Stats: 23 receptions for 317 yards and two touchdowns. Jersey No.4 Accolades: (high school) two-time All-District and All-Region. Strengths: “I think I’m pretty good at running routes. I can stretch the field and catch the ball in traffic. I’m not scared to compete for the ball or go across the field.” Needs work: “I’m fast, but not as fast as I want to be. I want to get more explosive.” Additional facts: (high school) Four-year letterman in football and two-year letterman in track, three-years to play, prepped at Bryan High School. Harris plans to major in Psychology. Harris was born 10/28/87 and son of Rod Harris and Ynenia Humber. His father starred at Texas A&M and went on to play in the NFL. Recruiting coach: “My recruiting coach was Coach [John] Reagan. He was one of the reasons I came to Kansas. He’s an honest guy and let me know it would be great to be at Kansas if it’s where I wanted to be. He stayed with and always called. He got to know me.” Expect to redshirt?: “I still have a redshirt left, but I don’t think they brought me in to redshirt. I play the X position and if I do what I’m supposed to do, I think I can come out on top.” Why KU?: “The people Kansas has coming back, and the people they have coming in were a big part of my decision. I want to play in a great offense, and there are a lot of good, young players already here. We have a chance to win big, and Kansas was where I wanted to be.” |
