Kansas Signee Duane Zlatnik

Duane Zlatnik, Scout.com three-star defensive end from Rossville, Kansas, has signed his letter of intent and officially a Jayhawk.

Stats: 113 tackles, six sacks, one blocked punt and one blocked field goal, 30 receptions for 561 yards and nine touchdowns. Jersey No.9

Strengths: “I think my leverage and using my hands helps me out. I got a lot of that from wrestling.”

Needs work: “I can really improve on my footwork and learning the different formations.”

Additional facts: Four-year letterman in football and wrestling, one-year letterman in track, 3.2 GPA, 18 ACT, unknown major.

Zlatnik was born 11/2/89 and son of Alan and Tammy Zlatnik.

Recruiting coach: “Clint Bowen was my recruiter for Kansas. I really like him and get along with him pretty well.”

Expect to redshirt?: “I want to go in and learn all of the plays. If I get redshirted, that’s fine with me. That’s another year of school that I don’t have to pay for.”

Why KU?: “KU is close to home, and I really liked all the coaches. They had a really good season this year. When you are there, it feels like you’re at home and you can be yourself.”
