Sean Ransburg: Coach Gives High Praise

Harrisonville (Mo.) High School sits on consecutive state championships. Quarterback Sean Ransburg took a definitive step in narrowing his college choices and made his commitment to the Kansas Jayhawks.

Sean Ransburg is 6-1, 205-pounds and was named All-Metro honorable mention for his junior season. Ransburg was the leading scorer, rusher and passer for his state championship team.

Ransburg recorded 207 carries for 1,281 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns. The quarterback went 98 for 207 in passing attempts for 1,773 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Harrisonville head coach Fred Bouchard talks of Ransburg's decision.

"Sean has committed to the University of Kansas," he said. "Actually, he had offers and pending offers from a number of people who, in my opinion, were extremely interested. He told me point blank I'm going to look at three schools, and I'm not going to look at anything beyond that."

"I said what if Florida, the national champions call. (He said) No. What if Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, University of Texas? He said no, no, no, these three schools--Mizzou, Kansas and Kansas State."

"We're close to the schools he visited. He looked at each school a couple of times, and he made his choice. He is committed to the University of Kansas."

"Every kid we've ever had commit in the past has stuck with their commitment. I don't see any change of venue before national signing day in February."

"He's a great athlete. We're fortunate he's our starting quarterback, but not only that. He was a 1,000 yard rusher as a sophomore on another state championship team when he played mainly running back. He's a pretty dynamic player."
