Elkhorn Prospect has Great Camps

Elkhorn linebacker/fullback Kevin Thomsen has received one scholarship offer, but he hit the summer camp circuit and his solid performances may lead to several additional offers. He talks of the camps and the trips remaining on his schedule.

"I have been to Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas," said Kevin Thomsen from Elkhorn, (Neb.). "My most recent camps were Kansas State, Nebraska and Kansas. I am going to Colorado State and Iowa State later this summer."

"I plan to make an unofficial visit to Wyoming as well since I didn't get to go to their camp."

Thomsen talks about his trip to Manhattan and his performance with the Wildcats.

"I went to Kansas State this past weekend for the one day camp," he said. "It went good. I thought I did well. Coach [Mo] Latimore took 15-20 guys aside to work-out in front of coach [Ron] Prince. I was one of them. I really enjoyed working out. It was a good experience."

Thomsen had an impressive day in Lincoln. He tested well and became a part of a select few during the day.

"The Nebraska camp went good," he said. "They picked me and a few other lineman to film during the day. I did good testing. I ran a 4.9 40-[yard dash] and a 4.5 shuttle. I weighed in right at 247-pounds."

"The coaches told me I did well. Coach [Ted] Gilmore told me to keep in touch with him. He said they were still evaluating me. He told me to give him a call anytime."

When asked about the trip to Lawrence Thomsen replied, "The Kansas camp went good as well. Coach [Brandon] Blaney told me I did a good job. I worked with coach [Bill] Young on the defensive line. I did very good in the one-on-ones. I didn't get stopped one time."

"Coach Blaney told me to stay in contact with him and he would call me September 1. He told me to not get discouraged that they haven't offered because a lot of times they don't offer until the season. He said if I get ready to make my decision to let him know. He will let me know exactly where Kansas stands and if they are going to offer me."

Thomsen does not name favorites, and he holds a scholarship offer from Wyoming.
