Never a Doubt

Sometimes in recruiting, college coaches won't have to work very hard for a prospect. Case in point, Kansas and Sal Capra, Capra was a Jayhawk through and through for quite some time and once he was offered a scholarship, all other interested parties took a back seat.

"Kansas was the first school to offer and I knew that's the school that I would sign with." Sal Capra said.

"Kansas offered me a scholarship in April and I committed right away. I've been to Kansas quite a bit and I like the camps, I like the school, the program is up and coming. It was just the comfort level with everything at Kansas that made me commit."

Capra, a 6-foot-3, 245-pounder, from Rockhurst High in Kansas City, Mo., was a three-year varsity member and two-year varsity starter for head coach Tony Severino. Capra played tight end and middle linebacker the past two seasons.

This past season, Capra racked 80 tackles, six sacks and an interception on defense. He scored two touchdowns on the offensive side of the football. Capra was named all-state and all-district as a senior.

Which position will Capra play for the Jayhawks?

"I'm going to be playing inside linebacker for Kansas." Capra said. "That's what the coaches are telling me. I like the defensive side of the ball so I'm ready to go."

Capra carries a 3.2 GPA in the classroom. He scored 21 on his ACT. He plans on majoring in Business or Sports Medicine.
