On Tuesday, Kansas head coach Charlie Weis indicated that running back Taylor Cox could be seek a medical redshirt if nagging hamstring and groin injuries don’t heal in time.
Cox left the Jayhawks season opening victory over South Dakota after tweaking the hamstring on a run in the fourth quarter of Kansas 31-14 win.
The senior tailback left late last week to return home to Seattle after suffering a death in the family, He’s expected back and will see if the injuries can heal. If not, it’s very possible that he will get another chance to finish his Kansas career strong in 2014.
Cox enjoyed a solid 2012 campaign with Jayhawks, rushing for 464 yards on 91 carries with three touchdown, while appearing in all 12 games.
