One of the biggest disappointments in Kansas’ 52-7 loss to Oklahoma, Saturday night was the alternating of quarterbacks early in the game.

Head coach Charlie Weis switched between redshirt freshman Michael Cummings and senior Dayne Crist. Cummings got the start and finished 10 of 21 for 111 yards and two interceptions. Crist finished 3 of 6 for 13 yards and a fumble that cost the Jayhawks their only legitimate chance to score in the first half after a muffed punt by the Sooners.

Weis went into the game keeping the starter a secret until kickoff.

Not this week.

During Monday’s Big 12 teleconference Weis said he will name a starter for Saturday’s game with Texas during Tuesday’s weekly press conference.

During the teleconference, Weis also said that he likes how the players have played hard, but stressed that they’re not in this for moral victories. He said that the next stage in the growth of this team is to get over the hurdle and start beating some of these teams.

They’ll get their next shot against the Longhorns, Saturday at Memorial Stadium.
