Dave Telep, "Darnell Jackson's committment is a great start for Kansas.
Jackson gives KU an athletic, big man that come in and make a difference right
away, and serve as a very nice complement to David Padgett and Wayne Simien"
Eric Bossi, "This
is a great committment for Kansas. Darnell's stock shot through the roof this
week at camp, and he had numerous coaches scrambling for
information on him. His verbal is a testiment to the way he feels for Coach
Self and the KU staff. This committment is important because now KU has one
in the
bank, and we can begin to get an idea of where they will go from here. For
a coach in a new program, it's critical that he get that first committment,
as
it sends a message to the other recruits who are considering KU."
Just
this week, Eric Bossi had this to say about Darnell at Nike Camp:
"I’ve
been one of Darnell’s biggest critics over the last year
because of how raw he is on the offensive end. But that is why I continue to
watch players. Darnell deserves a ton of credit for how much better he is getting.
He’s a legit top 50-75 in the nation type talent and is playing very
hard in Indy. He grabs tons of boards and seems to at least get a touch of
anything
in the paint even when he can’t snatch the board. He is a solid defender
who is learning to be patient and avoid silly fouls and he’s making tremendous
strides on the offensive end. He’s at his best using his deceptive quickness
and fairly explosive leaping ability to attack the basket but he’ll hit
a few short jumpers. Stay tuned for more on Darnell tomorrow. He has a tremendous
perspective on the game and he’s winning over a lot of coaches."
More on Jackson can be found here in Darnell's
player profile.
