ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas was very high on the pick, noting that while Tyshawn Taylor was still prone to bouts of inconsistency, his all-around skill level was top-shelf.
"He's got excellent speed and quickness," Bilas said. "He's good in transition. Good size for a point guard and he's an excellent defender. He can get steals, he gets deflections - I think he's really talented."
After a slow start to his senior campaign at Kansas, the ultra-athletic Taylor emerged as one of the preeminent point guards in the country and was virtually impossible to keep out of the lane off the dribble. His ability to turn the corner in a blink out of pick-and-roll situations should serve him well in the NBA, where the pick-and-roll is an offensive staple of virtually every team.
