A brief recap of the weeks events for the casual, non-obsessive fan.

The ones that got away

Kansas was essentially eliminated from the Marvin Williams sweepstakes without an official visit. His father confirms Marvin is considering North Carolina, Washington, and Arizona. However AAU coach Adam Sedlik suggested there was a slight chance Marvin may still take a visit to Kansas or Oregon. However, it seems clear KU fans must learn to let go.

Charlie Villanueva pulled out of the NBA draft. Had he pledged himself to Kansas, this would be fantastic news. Unfortunately Charlie had previously chosen UConn over Kansas in the event he did not go pro. Ahh, what could have been.

NBA Camp

A gaggle of recruits were at the NBA Top 100 camp this past week, including many Kansas targets. The Phog.net Total Access Pass allows us to leech off the coverage of other sites in the network. Thus, check out what Ben Sherman and Clint Jackson had to say about the event. (Premium)

Coverage from Inside Carolina:

  • NBPA: Top 10 Performers - Malik Hairston gets a nod.
  • NBPA: Wed. Evening Notes -
  • NBPA: Wed. Afternoon Notes - Commentary on Jason Horton, Joseph Jones, and Corey Brewer.

Prepstars’ Rob Harrington was also in Virginia.

“One of the day's bigger surprises, A.J. Ratliff showed off a pretty three-point stroke and complemented his hot shooting with drives to the basket. Quentin Thomas wields a dangerous jump shot with feather release and range well past the three-point stripe, and he also flashes the ability to manufacture a shot off the dribble and hang in the air to complete a tough play.” Howard dominates Day 2 (Prepstars Premium)

“Joseph Jones scored very little and gave up some points to Al Jefferson, but Jones proved that he's going to be a very tough post defender in college. Jones, a strong and mobile big man, was able to bother several of Jefferson's shots on the perimeter and wasn't pushed around by him down low.” Battle of big men (Prepstars Premium)

    Upcoming Coverage:

Dave Telep will be at the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival on June 26-31. The all-star-rosters include Malik Hairston, Josh Heytvelt, Kalen Grimes, Marcus Monk, and Jason Horton.

Phognetters will invade the evening pick up games on campus and report back. Watch for video! Finally, Eric Bossi will be hitting us with some in depth scouting reports on KU targets.
