Tuesday night, Phog.net learned from a source with knowledge of the situation that former Kansas player and coach Clint Bowen will be the next piece of the puzzle for Head Coach Charlie Weis, as he puts his staff in place on Mount Oread.

The source could not specify in what capacity Bowen would serve under Head Coach Charlie Weis.

He returns to his native Lawrence, Kan. from the University of North Texas, where he served as defensive coordinator for one season. He joined the Mean Green after helming the Western Kentucky defense in 2010.

From 2003-2009, Bowen coached safeties at the University of Kansas under former head coach Mark Mangino, eventually working his way to defensive coordinator.

Stay tuned to Phog.net for more on this story as it develops.
