Heaps made the decision official early this afternoon.
"Got a call from Dayne this morning and heard the news from him," the now-former BYU Cougar said. "Called Coach Weis less than an hour ago."
As a prep star out of Sammamish (WA) Skyline High School in the Class of 2010, Heaps was rated as the No. 1 quarterback prospect in the country by Scout.com. He chose BYU over a slew of scholarship offers from the likes of California, Florida State, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Washington.
In two seasons with BYU he completed 363 of 635 pass attempts for 3,768 yards and 24 touchdowns. He announced Dec. 5 his decision to transfer from the Cougars program, and visited Kansas officially last weekend.
At Heaps' request, Phog.net has an interview set-up for after the Christmas holiday to get the full scoop on his decision.
